Our Services
At Cole Spine and Performance we offer comprehensive evidenced based chiropractic care that is truly patient centered and outcome focused.
We don’t follow the one size fits all model of the large chiropractic franchises, rather we provide high quality, evidenced based care aimed at helping you achieve your goals!
Spinal Manipulation
We often hear chiropractic care and think spinal manipulation. Many oftentimes think spinal misalignments that chiropractors re-align through an “adjustment”. This is actually false, the spine is not misaligned. Rather it lacks proper intersegmental motion or motion between each joint of the spine. We perform spinal manipulation and joint mobilization or manipulation in general to restore proper joint motion and function. This helps to decrease pain and improve overall mobility.
Spinal manipulation is among several recommendations of the American College of Physicians for first line treatment of acute and chronic neck and low back pain with or without radiculopathy.
Studies show those use chiropractic care are 50% less likely to use an opioid.
Studies also support the use of spinal manipulation in reducing pain and improving function.
IASTM (Muscle Scraping)
IASTM or instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization is a form of passive care that treats muscles, tendons or ligaments. This treatment consists of a "scraping" motion with a bevel-edged tool to the affected area to create blood flow in the area and promote healing as well as break up muscle adhesions.
According to Biomed Central Medical Journal there is moderate evidence supporting the use of IASTM for pain reduction.
There is also evidence supporting improved function including increased range of motion.
Acupuncture & Dry needling
We offer acupuncture and dry needling services that provide relief from pain and discomfort. Our approach to treatment addresses the root cause of your symptoms, not just the surface-level pain.
Studies demonstrate dry needling to be moderately effective at reducing musculoskeletal pain up to 3 months!
According to the Journal of Orthopaedic and Physical Therapy, dry needling shows significant positive effect on functional outcome compared to controls.
Cupping
Cupping therapy is a form of passive therapy that consists of suction cupping different areas to promote blood flow and healing in the affected area. Cupping is shown to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and as a type of deep-tissue massage.
According to the British Medical Journal there is moderate quality evidence for cupping to reduce pain intensity.
According to Journal of Athletic Training, a single cupping session can provide moderate relief of neck pain and studies show that cupping immediately increases oxygenated blood flow to the area.
Lastly, studies show cupping to be a SUPERIOR treatment option when compared to NSAIDs or care as usual!
Active Care
Active care is an extremely important part of the puzzle when trying to achieve wellness and improve performance. Strengthening & stretching different muscles and muscle groups can create a world of a difference when combined with spinal manipulation and other treatment modalities. We will work with you and your personal trainer to support for functional and performance goals!
